Our story

Tucked inside a two-story yellow brick house just off the main street of Turners Falls,Massachusetts Orla is a warm, thoughtfully designed space that invites you to pause and explore. The shop, founded by Sophie O’Neill in the late summer of 2025, reflects the gentle rhythm of the town it calls home, where a cozy bookstore, record shops, brunch cafés, and a winding river encourage wandering and lingering.

Orla offers a considered mix of apparel and homewares—everyday staples that remain consistent, alongside a rotating selection of pieces from potters, textile artists, and independent clothing makers. Many items are one-of-a-kind or made in small runs, so each visit brings something new.

The Space

The store itself is small—just 300 square feet—but every inch is considered. The interior is wrapped in walnut wood and painted the palest shade of pink—so faint it’s nearly white, until the sunlight bathes it in a delicate blush. Ambient, golden lighting reflects off dark wood counters and cabinets, creating an atmosphere that’s earthy, cozy, and softly whimsical—more Parisian chocolate box than modern minimalist.

A hand-painted mural by artist and dear friend Alexa Garuiglia stretches across the walls like storybook wallpaper: a river flows, a horse grazes in a lime green field, and nude figures dance and rest in joyful ease. In the center of the store, a white cast iron sink invites you to wash your hands with handmade soaps or try one of our seasonal elixirs.

We hope you’ll come sit on our stoop, step inside, and find something that feels like it was meant just for you.
